Got 2 legs of my JH this weekend
My 11 month old vizsla(dog in my avatar) did 2 legs of his JH this weekend. I am very proud of him especially the way he did it. He worked excellent, range beautifully, hunted the field great, pointed with style on all 6 birds Not that it helps scores, but most importantly to me, he remained steady to wing and shot on 5 of the 6 birds. chased a little on the first bird but eventually stopped. Also he stopped when his brace mate bumped a bird. I was very proud, all our training is really starting to pay off. It was nice to have the judge complement us on the walk back.

congrats. it sure is fun to work with your own dog.
make sure you plan the next two legs if you want the title. we got our first two legs but then the season appears to be over down here (NC) and we'll have to wait til next season to work towards our Senior title. if i am correct, she won't be able to finish her JH legs in the fall because she will be over two years old.

I didn't know there was any age limit on a dog for any of the hunt test.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

We have one leg this weekend in PA on Sunday. I would love to run MH with him one day, that is the ultimate Goal in our training. Thanks for the kind words.original mngsp wrote:Congrats! Sounds like he did a very nice job.
Hopefully you can go 2 for two the next test weekend, get that JH and keep working him toward that SH or MH test.
Yeah I am running into that right now. will be on vacation mid april when there is another local test. After that, if I want to finish him this year, looks like we will be traveling. Also you can finish JH if you want, there is no age limit for the AKC. Thanks for the kind words as welledondero wrote:congrats. it sure is fun to work with your own dog.
