edit: Not only labelled as xylitol, but can also be listed as “birch sugar” in the ingredient list.

Xylitol lurks in weird places and some aren't labeled low sugar or sugar free. I've found in vitamin melts and gummies, and in toothpaste and mouthwash. Read the labels on anything that might go into dogs' mouths.

This is rather disturbing and surprising. Two brownies with this sugar substitute killed a 50 pound dog? I can't say it's a good post considering the topic, but it is a worthwhile one.

Remember when we didn’t need a chemistry degree to know what we were eating, when our population didn’t rank at the top of the list for chronic disease and obesity and there were only a few middle isles at the grocery store with dry and canned goods?
