Salmon fish rods
Looking for a nice sturdy salmon rod to us from the bank. Thought about using my steelhead rod but don't think it would hold up its only a medium lite duty rod.
Re: Salmon fish rods
I have a Daiwa Heartland 8'6" medium heavy that has handled a couple salmon at 25# off a charter boat. had a Garcia 6500 on it with 17# line. Little over stressed maybe but worked fine.
I pity the man that has never been loved by a dog!

OK looked for a 8'6'' ugly stik but couldn't seem to find on I've got over $300 invested in my steelhead rod so don't want to push my luck with it.

At Cabelas they had a special going on for a while. 9 ft rod and a bait casting reel for $45. I use mine for salmon, both trolling and casting. Use it till it breaks, then get a new one.
