Upland Pants?

Hello,
I am going to cabelas this weekend and i would like some upland hunting pants,
I dont need top quality ones but i would like decent ones :roll:
although 100-250 is too much considering i might get 2 seasons out of them

Leather chaps = Filson® Single Tin Chaps I love them. Only wish I had them on now here in math class Id be worm and if someone spelt some water or energy drink Id be dry.

But I will second a good pair of chaps over a pair of upland pants. I wear my chaps probly 100days a year and I am on my 3rd year with no end for them in sight. Filson double tins are the way to go.....

I've been wearing the wranglers from cabelas for about 6 years now and they are great pants. Comfortable,durable,and I know I will get some more years out of them. Think they go for around $50.

wrangler has camo upland blue jeans for 40 dollars.they look and feel nice and fit well.they are not perfect on big thorns in brush but for 40 dollars, you will get years out of them.
i bought 2 pair as i wear 1 set around home.

Step 1. Find old pair of carharts, or jeans.
Step 2. Go to sewing store and buy some Duck Cloth.
Step 3. Buy some water proofing spray
Step 4. Soak duck cloth in water proofing spray
Step 5. Sew duck cloth onto pants

These are my favorite pants to wear upland hunting. Also the cheapest. My hunting buddies laughed at me the first time I went out, now guess what they are all wearing.

Avoid chaps and wear suspenders on pants one size larger than normal....a tough to best combination.

I second the good pair of chaps - you can slip them on and off easily and they're great for early season training if you want to wear shorts. I've worn them for years and have just recently bought a pair of upland pants (duluth trading company). I like these pants, but the chaps are more versatile. Just watch it when you cross a barbed wire fence if you're short like me.

Carhart heavy duck work pants with double fronts and Scotchguard spray. $50.00 and indestructable. If you don't want the hammer loop cut them off but the leg pockets are great for leashes and such.

My buddy bought a pair of chaps out of the Pheasants Forever mag for this past bird season. The brand name on them was Browning, but I have no real idea who actually made them. They were reasonably priced, seemed to be well made, did the job, and seemed no worse for wear after the season. Looks like my friend will get quite a few years out of them. As for myself I'm wearing a 30 year old pair of Saf-T-Bak brush pants that are still going strong! They were quite a few sizes large in the waist when I bought them all those years ago, and I wore them with suspenders as suggested by Mountaineer. Now they fit just right! But I still use the suspenders!

What I do. I leave the hammer loop, and ALWAYS carry a pair of dykes in one of the leg pockets.

Anyone ever seen a Filson Double Tin on the hoof? I heard they're formible animals that have a tough hide that bullets can't penetrate. Related to the Cape Beefalo, which is a cousin to the Aussie Oil Cow that oil cloth is made from.

I have tried most of the pants out there. I like lined fleece hunting pants the best. Even the best cordova faced pants will let briars through, but if they are lined you never feel them. If you just wants some good knock around lite hunting pants the 100% cordova pants for about $100 are ok.

For you guys in snake and briar country that have tried everything, Turtle Skin fabric is the best thing I've found. I have the gaitors. They are feather light and tough as a bulletproof vest. The material will stop a rattlers fangs, yet the material is one layer of what feels like a stiff nylon, but is actually a hi-tech fiber.

The toughest and most stylish is the Naugabeast from which we get Naugahyde.

I've had a pair of Cabela's brand tin chaps for 5 years. I love them, but it's time for a new pair but my local store doesn't carry them. Look like I may have to order them online. I've also thought about a pair of double tin, but not sure I would want that much weight on warm days.

Columbia use to make some upland briar pants that were great - thick cotton, tough nylon facing. I have 3-4 pairs that have lasted very well. Unfortunately, I lost a bunch of weight and they're too baggy on me now.
I had a tough time finding similar pants at anywhere close to what I paid for the Columbias, which was $60, I believe. I picked up a pair from Cabelas, which are quite nice, but not nearly as heavy duty as the Columbias.
