I've only sat in one and it was Ricks, just a couple of times, but my impression was very comfortable, constructed very well, with lots of d-rings for hooking up all your gear.

Re: M & W Trooper Saddle
M & WE is the only one I have owned, it is a very nice and comfortable saddle.
Highly recommend one.

I love the feel of the M & W...for the first thirty minutes or so. It slowly gets more and more uncomfortable for me. Sort of like my legs are the wishbones of a chicken and are slowly being pulled apart. After about and hour and a half it was really uncomfortable for me.
I also tried a Buena Vista saddle and it also started out quite comfortable but also went downhill very quickly.
I can, however ride my Tucker trooper which is apparently narrower, for hours at a time. I also have an old Crosby which seems to fit me pretty well also.
Not every saddle fits every bottom. You really need to try them out if you can.

Re: M & W Trooper Saddle
My trial partner has been using one for about 4 years and loves it. They've always looked a bit odd to me, but that's personal opinion.
I'm riding on a Tarpin Hill Super Duty for the last two seasons, and am very satisfied, but delivery was way too slow. It did require about a month's riding to break in, as the padded seat rubbed me a bit. The seat is wider by an inch or so than the original troopers I've had (I still have 2 as well).
After break in its been great.
