Gun Dog Forum

Hello all. I’m in the PNW and hopefully getting a pudelpointer puppy this spring/summer. This will be my first gun dog though not my first dog. I’m excited though also intimidated by the hunting-specific training ahead, particularly working with birds. I’m doing as much reading as I can (recommendations welcome...) before having a pup in hands. And specifically I’m interested in approaches for versatile breeds. I waterfowl hunt now and am eager to add more upland hunts to my future. Looking forward to picking up ideas and learning from this community.

Exactly my thought. I’ll be joining both OR chapters and volunteering this spring before having a dog. Thanks for the recommendation!

Finally! Picked him up Memorial Day weekend. He’s settled in great with the family and home.
