Hello!

Post by petrey10 » Tue Dec 12, 2006 8:15 pm

Hello everyone I am new here and I am wanting to learn about training, buying, and keeping a gun dog. I have been leaning towards the French Brittany because of their size and I have liked every Brittany I have hunted over. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great!

Welcome aboard! I can point you to some well bred Brits but not the French Brits. All of the Brits were French a few generations back and there really isn't much difference in the dogs.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Welcome aboard, Petrey! Can you narrow down the East Central Illinois location? I'm located in Crawford County, which is almost considered Southern Illinois, but it's at the top part of "Southern" and about as East as you can get. I have a feeling you might be close by.

Heart of Illinois Brittany Club - Gene Salmons

Illinois Brittany Club is centered in the southern part of the state.

Chad Holman is probably a few miles south of you but is third generation of probably the No. 1 Family of Professional Brittany trainers. I think he often has pups or at least can steer you to them from some of the best trial dogs in the country..

And we have a few Brittany owners down in your area on this board that could help you out also. Don't know if Birdhunter got rid of all of his pups or not.

If none of these work out I can steer you to many more that may be a little further away.

Petrey, This may be suspect but I did see a flyer on a hunt club wall last weekend for a FC sired and show champion dam Brit litter on the ground. I don't know anything about them but who knows, it could be worth a call. The litter is in Marseilles up north here on route 80. Sorry but I don't have a name on the breeder. I think the sire is FC Jumpin Jesse or something like that. The number is 815-795-2228

Good luck finding a pup
