Another New Guy

Hello All, My name is Ben. In 3 days I will be getting a 6 wk old Drahthaar Pup. I am new to gun dogs as you think of them however I have been a Military Working Dog Handler for a little while now. I grew up chasing deer in Maryland and still do occasionally. For the last 7 years I have been stationed in New Mexico. Down here if there is a season for it and/or I can get drawn for it I will hunt it. If anyone on this forum knows where Alamogordo NM is and is nearby I would love to hear from you, and possibly get together for some informal training sessions. Also anyone who knows of any testing being done in my neck of the woods I would love the opportunity to watch. I plan to test my pup in the VDD system but their nearest tests seem to be Texas, Iowa and Utah. Thank you in advance to all the members that will give me advice over the coming years. Ben
