Hello Everyone,
As my user name suggests my name is Darren, I am 21 and new to the gun dog world; however I have some great guidance and help from my friend and his family who have been training GSP's, GWP's and retrievers for 30+ years.
I stumbled upon the forum researching gun dogs about ten months ago and have browsed occasionally.
My GWP, Barrett, is 8 months old and is already proving to be a great dog. He had the opportunity to leave my side for a month and go with his brother (Ruffas, left in picture below, Barret on the right) to Dorchester Shooting Preserve in Georgia and learn a couple things. The two pups have had the opportunity to chase birds 16-18 hours a day there. My friend also had the luxury to take them on guided hunts where right around 2,000 birds were shot over them (Ruffas 1500 & Barrett 500 or so).

Some people criticized us for having pups out and in the wild so early, however, having three months of free access to unlimited amounts of birds on 1200+ acres is hard to pass up.
Look forward to getting more great information from here,
Darren
