Can't go wrong with Bob Konz at Hackberry. Typically offers Elhew and Blackawk lines. Very knowledgeable guy. Spotless kennels. Lots of satisfied customers. I picked up a pup from him last fall and am very happy with it thus far.

Followed Shag's advice and checked out abebooks. Picked up the Hochwalt's "Modern Pointer" and another Horace Lytle book, "Breaking A Bird Dog". Both are interesting. Hochwalt provides a thorough history of the breed, and Lytle provides training tips that remain relevant almost a hundred years later...

I used Dr. Tim's for four or five months for my EP's. They did fine on it but when I compared it to Diamond Extreme Athlete, the Diamond looked like a better value. Switched over to that and haven't had any problems.

I wouldn't panic at this point given your dog's young age. I hunt with AA-bred pointers that range out to 500 yards on the prairie when we're after sharptails.
