Re: Any Vets? need advice...(non dog related)

When ever a vet advised to give penicillin I noticed that it was always much higher than dosage recommended on bottle , probably twice as much. For the next time if you bought them at a sale usually there is a vet that gives a shot. We use to call it a shipping fever shot. It was standard practice t...

I have a hard time following your dimensions. I have always figured just the square footage at 2 ft. per bird. Your loft seems small. There is a problem that no matter how big you make it you will exceed 2 ft. per bird. :)

Re: More Hunt Test!

Go to the AKC website and do an event search for hunting test. When it comes up do a search for the last 12 months. There were about 12 of them in the month of March in MO. Most of the time the same club will have the same weekend each year.

I built the same loft as shown in HOF post on pigeons. I wanted to get there wing strength back up since they had not flown in two months. I started leaving them out during the day to fly free. Funny how fast a big red tail figured this out. I'm down to 6 from 12. One took his own life with our Fre...

I don't get the scam there? The guy sent you $2500 and $1000 was for a pup. $1500 to his friend picking up the pup. So when the guy shows up to get the pup, you give him the $1500? You still have $1000 and the check already went thru the bank. I'm pretty dense on how these things work. When your ba...

Only difference is that with 28" you would have a slightly longer sighting plane, not really enough to make any difference. Choke is what matters.

I don't think you want to show up with your dog wearing a sweater. When you first arrive you should put her out for awhile. Then if the weather is real bad put her away until just before it is time to run I like to stake them out again.

I have no special heating, sometime they even start nesting in Feb. If you have a very open loft you might close some of they area so there is not as much wind, but not too tight , ventilation is important.

It will not harm the puppy to run him, but you will be much happier if you teach him to heel, it will not discourage his drive. He knows the difference when he is on a leash or free to run.

Just open the door and let them leave on their own. They will probably just fly a short circle and land on the roof of the loft. When you want them in give your feeding signal and they will come in. The trainer cares for each dog as he would his own. If a dog gets lost, hit by a car , etc that is just the breaks of letting dogs run loose or training. Everyone feels bad but the trainer usually has no liability.

Might be a good idea to join The American Brittany Club. You would get a monthly magazine that would help in following what lines are producing/winning. This would help but not a substitute for actually seeing the dogs at events to make your own judgements.
