Re: About lost my best dog today!
My wife took Blitz to the vet today for a follow up. His leg started swelling Monday and he has started limping which is something he hadn't done up to this point. The vet put him back on meds for the swelling and pain plus he put a cast on his leg. I don't know if that was for my wife's peace of mi...

Blitz came home today and is enjoying life. We go back in 2 weeks to x-ray the jaw again to make sure it's healing well. If you didn't see the swelling and scar you would never know anything was wrong with his leg, he's not limping and he wants to go. The next 10 weeks of house and crate life is goi...

Everyone is complaining about this but they will still continue to breed to these half pointers hoping something like this don't happen. All you have to do is look at some of these dogs and know that there's a pointer smiling somewhere. There's plenty of good clean shorthairs that will run and hunt ...

IF you are hunting anywhere near LA your shorthair should be fine all year long. If you want him to hunt like a lab you will have to train him like a lab. Obedience is really key in duck hunting gsp's.

Spaghetti noodles will really put the weight on her. Feed her a cup of food in the morning and a half of box of noodles around lunch, then another cup of food at night. I rescued a setter one time that was starving to death and that's the way I got him back to normal.

K-9 is right on the money about the wild birds. This pup needs to be hunted on wild birds and take a camera, no shooting until she's pointing birds for you. I think the worst thing you could do is take a pup to the preserve, pen released birds are horrible for a high drive puppy lacking in point. I ...

It's like everything else the silent majority sets around and keeps their mouth shut and get what they deserve. Gun control is a prime example, let them take auto's away and before you know it you don't have a gun to shoot birds with. That's the reason we have to support other forms of hunting no ma...

Pic your pup at 8 wks. There's no reason for him to expect you to pick a 2 weeks unless it was agreed too earlier. 2 weeks you will not be able to tell anything.

I don't think a dog can have to much retrieve. Keep the retrieving and pointing seperate. Meaning don't shoot any pointed birds for the dog until you have the steady to wing shot and fall. Then add the retrieve.

Seems to be a lot of people are going on about how much teachers earn. Teachers in the NY area paid their dues. The elementary music teacher and elementary P.E. teacher making over $98,000 a year is a joke and they are on walkout for more money. The hours they put in is about equal to a part time job when you count in holidays, summer vacation, and snow days.

I would hunt my dog on wild birds first. And then use pigeons to get your training done. I have done it both ways now and the dog I ran on wild birds looks 10x better on all birds. If a dog doesn't know it can catch birds they seem to point their birds father off with more intensity, they think the ...
