Re: New to Bird Hunting
I put a 30' check cord on my pup when I first got her and took her out to big open fields. I let her run and didn't say a word, I didn't want a dog that had to look to me for directions, stayed too close, etc. They range out sometimes but when they're young you can always catch up to them and grab ...

A Story Of A January 2010 Hunt
It all starts out a little something like this. There is an annoying beeping going off in the distance somewhere. I slowly come too and realize it’s my alarm clock. Fumbling around with it I finally find the snooze button. Laying there semiconscious I'm trying to remember just why in the world my al...

I can't speak to the steel loads but I did shoot the Kent Fast Lead in 6's for a couple years. I liked them. They patterned well for me. I just wish I could find them in 7 1/2s. They were dirtier but I think that was directly related to they had a bit more powder in them than other shells.

Don't spoil that pup too much. If you do they become couch hogs.

I can't believe that 11% haven't. Testing it on myself was one of the first things I did when I first got one. Then when I got a new one with alot more options for stimuli I did it again testing out all the different settings on myself.

I'd check collar clinic for them. I know I checked once and they had replacement batteries for dogtras. Other than that I'd look an see if there is any battery shops around you. Or take out the battery, pull all the info off it and do an google search and see what you come up with. Are you sure that...

I was a pretty terrible dog owner at 12-14, so i'd have some reservations about putiing a gun dog with a lot of "go" in really ineperienced hands. When you say fast working dogs, do you mean fast working within gun range with a controlled search pattern, or a dog that ranges big and fast out of gun range. With big range seems you would run the risk of bird busting out before you got there? I don't think that range has much to do with a fast w...

Welcome to the forum crate/kennel camera patience The one thing I wish I would have had before I ever brought a pup home is a pigeon coop full of birds. Or at least a discount at a local bird farm. Eat the birds. Hide away some of the grocery money you save, by eating them, for spending on live birds.
