Re: What may have caused this?
Seizure...I don't know about dogs but humans can have various degrees of seizure...from full blown seizures to focal seizures that can be almost just like a dazed state.

Re: Off Topic - Venison Tips/Recipes
I used to have the same issue with my wife...she would eat the burger in chili etc but hated the "gamey" taste. Someone suggested for us to try soaking the meat in a salt water bath in the fridge for 12-24 hours and it worked like a charm. Now my wife and kids request deer steaks. I use just enough ...

I'm envious! The only way I can kill pheasants around here is to pay someone to place them....one of these days I'll make it to SD. Glad you had a great day.

Re: gsp seizures... help!!!
I'm with brenda..sounds like hypoglycemia. I'm not a vet but i've taken care of humans for 20 years and they'll get disoriented and even have seizures when their sugar gets low. Your brain needs a certain level of "sugar" to function properly and when it gets low it doesn't function correctly. It so...

Re: So what did you get for Christmas?
I asked for an auto launcher and got the next best thing...a gift card that I ordered an auto launcher with christmas night!! I'm a little envious of the solid black pup though I must say.

Shipping advise from St. Louis
I have an adult gsp that a buyer wants to have shipped from STL. I haven't shipped a pup in a long time and have never shipped an adult dog. I know there are certain rules for crate size, health cert, temperature etc....specific to the airlines. My question is more specific to St. Louis. Southwest i...

I agree with the rest. If she's well bred she'll forget about everything else as soon as she winds a game bird. It will be like a light coming on in her head. Have fun with her and see what she'll do.

Re: My 3rd Grade Quail Pen
Be careful with the pen raised birds and letting the dog chase them when flushed..and even on point for that matter...because they don't always flush and/or fly well and letting them catch birds can be bad news. I always work dogs on a check chord or buddy pole until I'm certain they are firm on bir...

Re: Retriever training for a young pup
I'm not an expert either, but I've trained several dogs and force fetched a few. A good trainer...in my opinion...will adapt tried and true training methods to the individual dogs temperment and not pressure the dog into a nervous mess. I believe there has to be some buy in trust from the dog also w...

Re: Remington 1100 G3 12ga/28in.
My wife bought me an 20 g. 1100 two years ago for xmas and it's been very unreliable...as mentioned before tons of jamming issues. It's back in the shop now for a look. I would go with a beretta or franchi. I like the feel and swing of the gun but I don't want a single shot.

Re: setting out pen birds for "hunt"
The guy that plants birds at the preserve I run at puts 6 or so in a pillow case and twirls it around windmill style. He then empties them all into a little nest area and lightly covers it with cover. They flush like a wild covey then you can hunt the singles. Sounds like this may not work in your s...
