You pup will hunt just fine. I think people that say things like that are usually talking about outdoor dogs being better acclimated to extreme heat/cold than indoor dogs that live at 69degrees year round.

I would guess this is something that the dog will learn with experience since there is no reward for flushing out of gun range. The dog will just have to figure out how far out he can be while still staying close enough to get the reward of a downed bird.

I've read that in order to get the pressure off the dogs wind pipe the first thing you should do is rotate the trap 90 degrees. Anyone know if that's even doable when the jaws are putting 90lbs of pressure on the neck? Sounds like it would be tough.

I would sya, besides hound hunters, very few outdoor persuits catch as much grief and backlash from the non hunting public as do the fur trade and trappers.
