Re: Time to Fully Train a Brittany

Have you thought about buying a finished dog--that way you know what the final product will be -- one that exactly fits what you want it to do. Since it would probably be at least 2 years old to be completely finished, all the health checks have probably already been done (hips, elbows, etc.) Just a...

I got on the AKC event search site for last year and looked up pointing dog hunt tests for last year in ND---there were none listed. Nearest ones are in SD & MN. It's fun to run in them--give...

Re: A Novice and his Dog

I think running with a gun to catch up isn't a very safe way to hunt IMO  . The reason to stop the dog is: if the dog is getting out of range following the bird, it does no good to allow him to continue on and flush it out of shotgun range. If you stop him and catch up and then release him to t...

If you are going to run your pup get it used to being around horses---even if it is a walking stake or hunt test, the judges will be riding horses and you don't want your pup to spend his whole amount of time on the ground barking at or being scared of the horses-- instead of running and hunting lik...

Ask the vet you are thinking of using, how many dogs he has OFA'd. You need a vet that knows what he is doing to get the dog positioned right or your rating could suffer.
