Re: Looking for a Cull!

Hey, all - I'm moving this topic over to the GENERAL CHAT forum for those who wish to carry on the "hog dog" conversation - it's gone way off topic in the DOGS FOR SALE forum!

Re: How much pasture?

On our 12+ acre 'lifestyle' farm in DE we have about 4/5 in grass pasture - have had four horses on pasture and did as others have suggested -- ran temp fencing (3-4 grazing areas) and rotated horses from section to section...

Re: English to western rigging?

Another "trick" to help prevent saddle roll (provided saddle properly fits the horse - that's a whole 'nuther discussion), is to ensure that your western cinch rings/buckle(s) are located only a couple of inches above the horse's elbows, and *below* the spring of the horse's rib cage. Too often folk...

Re: Bits

Check saddle/girth fit too... often an antsy horse is one acting out of discomfort in neck/spine (as well as repeating habitual behavior), and usually the cause traces back to improper saddle and or girth fit.

Re: Horse Trailers

Adams Trailers (Dalton, of VA) has a very nice aluminum 2-horse BP with a nice-sized dressing room - the Ju-Lite model. We've dealt with a local Adams dealer in DE that ships worldwide - Delwood Trailer Sales. Ronnie, the owner, can get that trailer customized to fit your needs... and not expensive ...

Well, if you truly want to be a 'cut above' as relates to horse training (conditioned behaviors), one of the best books currently available is Equitation Science by Paul D. McGreevy (Author), Andrew N. McLean (Author): http://www.amazon.com/Equitation-Science-Paul-D-McGreevy/dp/1405189053 The book i...

Re: Dixieland gaited saddles?

Have had several Tuckers - nice saddles as far as material and workmanship, but weren't the most comfortable ones to ride after a few hours (at least for me). Currently have a Dixieland that's very well made, quality leather and workmanship... it is a bit heavy, but otherwise a wonderful saddle! Dix...

December 2011 - dog on right is coming 13yo, his half-brother on left is 5. Wonderful day in mid-Atlantic area spent trekking open fields, breaking through brambles, crossing creeks, woods, heavy cover, etc. with dogs making difficult retrieves and never letting down!

For this championship stake the gun dogs and all-age dogs run together (same in the amateur championship stake). It actually manages to work out well - both gun dogs and all-age type dogs have won/placed over the years.

Tuffy's "Ultimate Gear" dog toys - they come in different shapes, sizes, and "chew" levels - so be sure and pick out the highest level chew-ability (their Tuff Scale rating -- you'll want at least a 9, and 10 is the best) ;-) Amazon has had these at prices much better than the retail chains. It seem...
