There is some confusion on if the dog is a pointer or a GSP, but either way, someone is missing their hunting buddy.

Any tips or info on how a potential buyer can "do their homework" on a particular breeder? Don't want to hijack, but I repeatedly see this being said, but nobody ever elaborates. Are there resources available or does it boil down to simply trying to find owners that are willing to be honest? Particu...

Yup. My pup literally cried non-stop for the first few days. Hard to listen to, but just ignore it. He still at 4.5 months isn't in favor of going in his crate, but he understands that crying will get him nowhere.
Good luck and stick with it.

Re: Brought home an 8 week old GSP..........now what!!
Good looking dog! My dog just turned 4.5 months old. Potty training was a lot tougher with this dog than my last. My last dog figured it out right away. This one though seems to just spring a leak every once in a while when he is playing or acting crazy. I do blame myself for some of the accidents b...

One of my pups was a bit nippy. I tried a lot of the suggested things above (dominance, muzzle grab, "no!" Etc.) but worked best was grabbing her lower jaw with my thumb inside her mouth and saying "no bite." She hated my thumb in there and learned quickly. Yup, thumb under the tongue helped stop m...

Re: When is it safe to take puppy into woods
It's always a toss up. Keep pup walking around the block , ( NOT sniffing other dog's poop), until after his second shots as all vets recommend , and you have a gundog who has missed his crucial time of discovery/independence in the fields and wood. So most owners of gundogs take their chances. I w...

Re: When is it safe to take puppy into woods
In my opinion keeping a puppy in the house for the first 5 months of its life and avoiding contact with the outdoors is crazy. I agree that keeping him away from dog parks and unknown dog strangers is a good thing, but no time in the woods or field? I don't agree with that. In my opinion, a puppy ha...

In terms of a dog for hunting, it seems to me a Labradoodle should end up similar to a WPG or a stout GWP. An obvious difference might be no point and so looking for a retriever/flusher. I doubt the coat would stay "hypoallergenic" in this case, though. http://killararidge.com/service_and_hunting_d...

I might be in the market for an e-collar shortly and haven't heard much about Garmin since the takeover. The two times I had to call Tri-Tronics for support, they were phenomenal. Sort of curious if that changed now.

I suspect that adding the pedialyte was more to entice the dog to drink and stay hydrated due to the flavoring, but I could be mistaken :?: I'm not sure of the reasoning, but thirsty dogs drink with gusto in my experience, and experts in canine nutrition say they re-hydrate best with plain water as...
