Re: Toe infection

3 vets??? I can't imagine why an x-ray and steroids would be warranted. Maybe the DR. here knows why. I've had two experiences. One was the common interdigital cyst ( google it). 10 days of Epsom salts soaking cleared it up. Second was a long thorn that had gone way up between the pads and could not...

I live in the city.
I look out and regularly see my dogs pointing and backing "bleep" birds, releasing themselves, chasing.

Never happens in the field.

Why? I don't know.

Great to hear from someone concerned about their dog like that. Not always the case unfortunately. Just my opinion, but I wouldn't drive all the way to the vets in the morning. It just looks like a pretty typical bug bite. Keep the gel on and I bet they look better in a couple days. Fly bites etc. o...

Had a young dog come screaming out of the bush towards me one evening. Lay down at my feet, shaking, frozen.
Tried to pick her up and she wouldn't let me touch her. Wouldn't walk.

After 7 or 8 minutes I carried her back to the car. No injuries. That evening she was fine.

In Canada we have JFD, FD and FDX - similiar requirements. My first foray with a dog was in Field Dog Junior. I was scared to death. Forgot to fire the gun. Left the field. Judge called me back and said, " Lady, you need to fire the gun." The dog passed!!!!! These are great events to get new people ...

I learned that lesson the hard way.

Dog trailer pulled up to pick up my dog.
Trailer looked to be overflowing.
Trainer said, "I've got 10 more dogs to pick up."

I'm thinking..... 3 dogs to a box for a long trip and how much time is my dog going to get? There's still only 24 hours in a day.

I don't have ropes on mine, but I'm sure my dog would do the same if I did. She also liked to mouth it like a corncob and carry it at the end. What helped us was getting bigger bumpers, which made it a lot harder for her to mouth it. Right now I'm using the jumbo DT soft-mouth. You can inflate/defl...

I would have been more wise about the pup I bought. Innocently/ naively struggled too long with too many culls before I figured out the diifference it makes when you start with a "real" pup. When you're new/inexperienced there is always somebody to take advantage of you sadly to say.

Find a vet.
With a puppy one always has to worry about Canine cough or parvo which can be serious for a pup (weak immune system, can dehydrate quickly)
Don't wait for a referral now, just go to a vet.

I'm a small , 5 foot woman.
I can only afford one gun.

I use it for skeet, trap, birds, rabbits. (Ducks with great caution.)
I had it modified to suit me - shortened the pull and modified the stock. Works great for me.

What to consider?

If you have all or almost all pups sold before they're on the ground, then that's a breeding to go for.
If no one's knocking on your door........

What we don't need is more pups no one wants or pups who want to hunt going to pet homes.

On the Ontario Dog Forum I help moderate, we don't allow people to ask questions about a kennel or trainer publicly. This thread is the reason why. You can ask , but all responses must be done by PM. People get the info they want without all the possible slander and rancour. Something to think about.
