Re: Choosing new pup from a litter
I am going to have to pick this pup over the internet as I need to help my wife exist at home and cant be away that long. I have total trust in the breeder and she is going to help evaluate them in the next few weeks. We will be doing it by video. A friend with second pick is bringing him home for ...

It's that happy time again here in ON. I use Nexgard for ticks and Heartgard for heartworm from mosquitoes. Never see a flea. What do you use? I thought this thread might be useful to new gundog owners.

Re: Keeping dog in shape
So i was wondering how often do you run your dogs to keep them in shape. My WPG is not over weight or anything but the stamina seems to be lacking a little. We do a trail run/hike (3.7 miles for me) and then a some field working another day almost weekly. She is 1.5 years hold and i am not able to ...

Re: Choosing new pup from a litter
You can do your best to pick "the best pup" , but it has been my experience that there is no " for sure" choice. A litter I bred with a pro friend ( my female dog and his chosen sire - 5xCh Shady Hills Billy) were all sold before they were born. An owner decided he didn't want his chosen dog when he...

10 THINGS YOUR DOG WOULD TELL YOU... 1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you will be painful: remember that before you get me. 2. Give me time to understand what you want of me. 3. Place your trust in me- it is crucial to my well being. 4. Do not be angry at me for long,...

That's very nice of you. I never had any kids as I had two brothers die before 20 from Duchene Muscular Dystrophy. In those days they couldn't tell a woman if she was a carrier of that gene or not , and we chose not to put a child through that slow death. We did have 4 foster children (teens) though...

I say UTi- too much acid. I'd be taking a urine sample to the vet.
Why do I think this ? I had a friend throw up twice in my laneway on the cement. Cement went whitish and has never recovered- the cement that is , the sick boy recovered.

Here's a beautiful snake for you in Ontario. Eastern Hognose- totally harmless. Lifts its head like a cobra so if you don't know what it is you could be totally shocked.

OP
In ON we only have one rattler in a small part of ON- Massasauga Rattler. Unless you go to that one small part of ON., you don't have to worry about poisonous snakes when hunting. ... no snake breaking needed for your dog.

Re: Collar Breaking A Dog
I remember when collar settings were On and Off. Then they went to High and Low. Today's collars have so many settings that some of the lower numbers are barely perceptible, so maybe a 4 on a new one isn't like a 4 on an older model like mine. Test the collar on the inside of your forearm instead o...

Re: Train 6m Puppy to Steady to Flush or Let Chase?
There has got to be more than letting a dog initially chase or not. Folks let their dog chase initially and they end up with a good hunting partner. Folks don't let their dog ever chase and they end up with a good hunting partner. I think that whatever the method , consistency in training/ enforcing...

A Day To Be Thankful
Just enjoyed a wonderful day out at the ponds and woods with my dog. ( Can't hunt anymore.) Dogs are Amazing Creatures
My terrier started out barking incessantly when a stranger was in the house ; very protective dog. I started using an anti bark collar and that worked fine. Then I stopped changing the battery and the dog didn't notice and the collar still worked fine. Today I just laid the collar on the table and h...
