When you have chosen a breeder get them a deposit on a "planned" breeding so you have first pick ASAP. Having first pick will allow you the flexability to get the one you want I always take the advise of a great trainer, he recommends taking the last dog of a litter. :) has worked very well for me....

Thanks Cindy, why doesnt DKV allow AKC dogs to be tested in their "arena"? I would think some of the AKC dogs might be able to pass these. A DKV can be reged as AKC but not the other way around, I can understand this but not the reasoning behind it. Someone mentioned GSP dogs here before Thornton, y...

To be honest I am becoming more confused the more I try to understand this separation of DK and AKC. If you breed a NADKC dog to a AKC dog can th...

That could be dangerous to your dogs. Never know what anothers dog has and can give to yours. Where I live, a running dog gets shot by the cattle farmers, so it is important to keep them in some way. But in sporting clays, or any range game, it is accepted practice not to put the safety on, this is not a good thing to do. Safety on at all times until the actual shot is to be fired is how I was taught by my Uncle a deputy sherrif. He taught us all when we were very young. No exceptions to that r...

Wow a wealth of information at our fingertips :) Many experiments on caged-birds demonstrate that DDT and its metabolites (DDD and DDE) do not cause serious egg shell thinning, even at levels many hundreds of times greater than wild birds would ever accumulate. It did cost us some birds due to weaked egg shells after years of use. I ma...

The thinking is birds eat the bugs that have ingested 1080. Yep, tis why DDT is no longer in use here in America. Way back in the 602 we were trying to outgrow Russia in food crop production, road to road farming and DDT wiped out a lot of hunting. Dad said all bird life was wiped out from this and...

I had a dog that would seek out the skunks and get hit every time. I shot one (a skunk) and beat him about the head with it then tied it to his collar and left him stinky. He stopped chaseing them after that. You need to tie it in such a way so the dog cant get to it, he will eat it probably. My Dad...

Wagonmaster, you are on the same page as I in this. Maxwell also, by the way, credits the development of the present-day GSP to the introduction of pointer (English, not Spanish) in the late 1800's. The use of the Spanish pointer dates back over 200 years. Also very interesting are the number of tim...
