A lot of people buy well bread pups and train to hunt, but never campaign them; Thus you can get a very good pup without the red ink!

Why do you treat pigeons for cocci twice a year? I never treat for anything till there is a problem since treatments do not prevent. My birds have never been wormed and had never had a problem. I also have not wormed my dogs since I started using Ivomec for heartworm as I just can not find any sign...

Take a bird with you, when you go to see the pup, lock its wings and see what the pup acts like around the bird. (pigeon or Quail) I wouldn't worry to much at 7 months old, myself!

I used the Sorrento flea and tick collar, and never seen a tick bitt in on either of my dogs, lasts 8 months; that is the way I will go this year!

I agree with everything that Don said, but will add one thing, it doesn't hurt to kill one every now and again.

Joan Bailey's book ( How To Help Gun Dogs Train Themselves) gives a sort of timeline to where you should be in your training at certain age's 6mo, 12mo and so on. been a while since I read it, but believe it has what your looking for. Just remember that all dogs learn at different rate's .

Where are you located, what State?
Have you tried a half hitch on the flank, or pinch collar? Both these will curb the pulling, till dog gets the hint.

Try him on some clipped winged pigeons, or locked wing pigeons, a live bird seems to be a little bit more encourage able for a young dog or pup.
