Pheasants for green-broke dogs?

Okay let's assume you want an ultra-steady pointing dog who will hunt both wild and pen raised birds in their life. Steady until you SEND them for a retrieve. You have done the training or had the dog trained and they are green-broke. For this poll I will define green-broke as holding birds that wal...

and Heel POSITION is fine to train a puppy with treats. But don't do walking at heel yet. It should be way on down the list after field confidence, and bird time, unless you really want a "porch sweeper" pointing dog. I have a buddy that has a fantastic Boykin that hunts in hot weather flushing for quail and peasants, and then also dove hunting. Then he does waterfowl too. Smart little dog. But I have met some Boykin's you could not pay me to own, also. They won't be pointing dogs though, of course.

I shall forever love the straight out point of the European dogs. The high tails seem... I don't know I just feel like it's like a dog in a miniskirt that's too short. But the continental breeds with docked tails look better with a little tail lift. But no need to be a terrier either IMHO.
