It's better for the dog to go slow at the stage it is in now and let it gradually gain some weight and then increase the feed if needed. It takes time to get the digestive tract back functioning properly.

Don, Walnut Hill ha a lot of nice GSP's that have Dual titles, I think you can find about anything if you look. All it takes is someone who makes the effort to breed for the characteristics needed and the gene pool seems to be big enough that you can find it.

I agree with CJ, my pups grew up on the same feed Mom was eating in most cases. Nothing wrong with puppy chow for a few weeks when they start eating but I don't like it beyond that time. Plus there is little difference between the two of the essential nutrients.

Both are good but you will find it much easier to keep your weight on your dog during heavy exercise periods with a feed that has corn as the second or third ingredient. That is why you will seldom if ever find a pro-trainer feeding grain free. Dogs have eaten grain forever.

I live in IL and have never had to worm my dogs since I have used Ivomec for heartworm. Even our bitch and her pups were free and I couldn't believe it. Never had puppies that I didn't need to worm at least for roundworms.

CJ, our dogs are not crossbreds in any sense of the word. What make them purebreds is they will produce puppies that look and act like heir parents. It has been determined many time it takes 7 generations to get to that point. In other words they have eliminated the odd genes and are back to a state...
