I dont think its so much the fact that the older judges dont want to take the test or attend a seminar. I didnt attend, but must agree with what great weather it was for the event. Usually at least one, if not both weekends are either hotter that heck and/or raining. This year both weekends were pleaseant with temps in the 70's.

My 5 yr old dog I will work up to between 50-75 minutes at around 10mph 3 times a week. When I'm doing that she is pulling hard in the harness the entire time. I love my O/Us but when late season Dakota pheasants are the quarry and its cold out, I slum it with a 12 gauge autoloader with a youth stock on it. Without the added layers of clothing I cant hit crap with that gun but when suited up for cold weather it works pretty well.

MY first dog out on my own was a shar-pei/shepherd mix. A face only a mother could love, I adopted her at about one year old from the pound as she was the only dog in the place that wasnt barking. She had her share of other issues but was a superb pet and i learned alot about dog training with here....

For the most part if the dog is passing objects there is nothing to be concerned about. Pups eat all kinds of stuff they shouldnt, and in most cases it is harmless and they grow out of that phase. I'd just watch the pup closely for the next couple of days and make sure all digestive/bowel functions ...

I will work up to roading my dogs for 1.0 - 1.25 hours at around 9-12 mph. MY good dogs will do this time constantly pulling in the harness. Most of all...have fun...at the event and during the event. Cut the dog loose and let it do what it is going to do. Your dog is a puppy...it can do NO wrong. Repeat that mantra a couple times before you get to run and once more as you get ready to cut it loose.

Be there in time to run your dog at 8:30. You never know if people in braces before you scratch or dont show up and you could be running before you expect. Being there and watching, meeting others, learning is always a good thing to do. You will usually see a fair amount of people there with chairs ...
