I just check out the Hay Creek Kennel site and I see they offer two different stake-outs for $36/ea but I'm not sure why. Maybe someone here could explain - When would you use this..... http://www.websitesimplicityplus.com/hck/graphics/supplies/stakes.jpg As opposed to this..... http://www.websitesi...

One of the first times I ever when pheasant hunting, we hunted behind my friend's uncle's Brittany which only had three legs. I couldn't believe how well that dog got through the brush - it never skipped a beat. My buddy's uncle always said they had the vet remove one leg to try and slow him down a ...

At first I was just telling her "NO" which, after doing a little reading, I gathered was incorrect since a blanket command for all bad/annoying behavior would end up confusing the dog. The author recommended using more specific commands like "No Bite" and "No Jump" so I was trying to make it as clea...

We pulled some flight feathers and planted the pigeon. Twice she went right in on it and it got away and I was able to catch it. The 3rd time she pointed and it flushed as I walked up, She was able to chase it down a catch it this time. It's been a REALLY long time since I've worked with birds and ...

Pup's biting and chewing

My 9wk old GSP, Roxy, is a little pistol and loves to play fight with my 10yo and 14.5yo GSPs. The problem is that my 10yo has no problem putting her in her place (fast) but my 14.5 is so old she just doesn't do anything to defend herself so Roxy will bite down on whatever flap of skin (ear, jowel, ...

The corkscrew ones sure didn't work for long on my GSP and the small straight posts were even worse. Finding a heavy-duty stake-out that will stay put would be very nice....

We own all females and I don't think we'll ever own a male. I enjoy working with the females and you don't have to put up with them marking their territory, your tires, neighborhood kids, etc.

Plus, I prefer smaller dogs so females are a bonus there as well.

Did you end up shooting that pigeon over the pup already? I was planning on taking it real easy with gunfire but if that's not the best way to do it, let me know.

The guy's name is Tyson Taylor and he's from the Rapid City, SD area. His GSPs are small for the breed but that's the way I like 'em. I'm guessing my GSP will be 40-50 lbs all growed up!! Here's a pick of Tyson with the sire and dam (Bonnie and Clyde). http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f302/jennifer...

Do not give a command you can not enforce. Do not get upset when you allow yourself to get in that situation and if you allow it to happen again walk away ...seriously walk the opposite direction that the pup is going when the pup comes around and comes close do not grab for the pup either That's g...

If you're up to the task the dog should be too.

I'm new here so take this for what it's worth..... When I got my first GSP she was 16 weeks old and I took some advice and waited to do any formal training until she was a year old. I'm not saying that's good advice, just the advice I took. BTW - I have pup coming this Friday and will probabl...
