Re: Supreme Court Shot Down Animal Cruelty Video Law

Agreed. The spin on it in the media is that the Supreme Court struck down a law banning "crush videos" as free speech, and that is not what the Court did. Here is from the Court's opinion: Moreover, §48 applies to any depiction of conduct that is illegal in the State in which the depiction is create...

So you think that dog fights & filming them/showing the video is ok? Because that's what it appears you are doing! No, it is not. The law as written had no boundaries, and as the Court pointed out in its opinion, would have banned hunting videos in municipalities where hunting is illegal (such as W...

Doug raises some really good points. Absolutely all of the wild bird trials in the US that I am aware of are run under American Field rules. You can't have a yellow brick road approach unless someone is putting birds along that road for every brace. AF is more fun anyway, you get to go pretty much w...

Looking at your username, the land requirements might be somewhat less for a cover dog trial because a foot walked course will cover less ground in an hour than a horseback handled course. You need quite alot of contiguous land. How much depends on the specie and the cover, but it is best to have six continuous one hour courses. You would prefer not to have to run over the same course in the morning and then do it again in the afternoon, and then the next day and the next. It pushes t...

In AF trials, In rare instances when the judges feel they have not seen a performance worthy of the title of Champion, the stake is converted to a regular stake and three placements (not four) are awarded. AKC does four placements for its regular stakes, AF does three. So, for example, an AF All Age...

We tend to get into big family groups in the early season, maybe it is just a difference in where we hunt. You can go online at akc.org, go into their online store, and get a record of all the dog's wins, which includes the name of the club and the stake. It will tell you if they were walking trials or not, and if you know clubs and the style of trial they like to run, you will know that by the club name.
