Re: More roading questions
Have you ever interval trained? That is what I do, but I have been told I do not know what I am doing. Funny, my dogs are usually in condition. Push, coast, push coast. One distance one day and more the next. I train for distance and not time. Like I said, most guys laugh at me. I do not roa...

I second what Karen said. If you will always have the time to run her a few days a week then you really don't need to road her. You still can but I would only do it after she is fully grown 1 1/2 - 2 yrs old.

Re: Breed Specific Trials
Tru I think the reason you don't see many pointers in akc trials is that if a pointer guy wins then all you hear is "good for you, you beat a bunch of shorthairs" So it wouldn't even matter really. That sums it up right there. We are looked down upon. Like Doco said too, he ran his shorthair in a p...

Here is some good read http://blueweimaraner.com/tell.html To this day it is still uncertain where Tell got his blue color. Everything you hear is speculation or hearsay. It was so long ago that it shouldn't matter today. As far as I am concerned, I could care less about breeding to a show standard ...

Re: Male or Female German Short Hair Pup
The decision between a male or female comes down to you. There is no difference in training. Each dog has it's own personality so saying male dogs are stubborn or females are easier to train is all folklore. You never know what you will get. When a female comes in heat is can be messy. There will be...

I was really curious so I contacted AKC and this was their response:
"Bells are not specifically mentioned in the PBFT Rule Book. We have said yes they can be used and we will be clarifying the rulebook in the next printing."
I guess I stand corrected.

He had the no breeding agreement...that' not the issue. The owner doesnt have an issue at all. I'm just wondering why the breeder can't give him the pedigree. By the way, this is stricy a hunting dog so no registration is not a problem.

Re: Bell at Field Trial??
I don't think bells are allowed in AKC trials. It is considered a training/locating aid. If people have used them then the judges either didn't know or allowed them to for some reason. Again, what would differ using a bell from a beeper collar then? That is why they have scouts in field trials and n...

Re: Bell at Field Trial??
I think cover dog trials you can use a bell. In regular AKC trials I don't think a bell is allowed. If that were the case what would prevent a handler from using a beeper collar then? The only "tracking or locating" device allowed is a tracking collar or garmin...both can only be activated after dog...

Bernee, I would recommend Wye Island also. However, I see you said your Championship would run in Oct. DNA can only confirm who the sire/dam is, grand sire/dam and so on, based on the information you provide them of the pedigree. It cannot determine if the sire was a pointer or not. Hence, if the DNA does not match who you said it should then the AKC gives it a q registration. They will not bar it. Th...
