Here's a beautiful snake for you in Ontario. Eastern Hognose- totally harmless. Lifts its head like a cobra so if you don't know what it is you could be totally shocked. :)

OP

In ON we only have one rattler in a small part of ON- Massasauga Rattler. Unless you go to that one small part of ON., you don't have to worry about poisonous snakes when hunting. ... no snake breaking needed for your dog.

Re: Collar Breaking A Dog

I remember when collar settings were On and Off. Then they went to High and Low. Today's collars have so many settings that some of the lower numbers are barely perceptible, so maybe a 4 on a new one isn't like a 4 on an older model like mine. Test the collar on the inside of your forearm instead o...

Re: Train 6m Puppy to Steady to Flush or Let Chase?

There has got to be more than letting a dog initially chase or not. Folks let their dog chase initially and they end up with a good hunting partner. Folks don't let their dog ever chase and they end up with a good hunting partner. I think that whatever the method , consistency in training/ enforcing...

A Day To Be Thankful

Just enjoyed a wonderful day out at the ponds and woods with my dog. ( Can't hunt anymore.) Never thought we would be able to do that this Spring as I have Parkinson's Disease and the dog has cancer and had a TPLO last Fall. Saw two pair of Ring Necked ducks . Dogs are Amazing Creatures

My terrier started out barking incessantly when a stranger was in the house ; very protective dog. I started using an anti bark collar and that worked fine. Then I stopped changing the battery and the dog didn't notice and the collar still worked fine. Today I just laid the collar on the table and h...

Re: Bumping Woodcock

Lots of woodcock in Ontario where I live. I've always found woodcock to be so quick to flush, very attentive to what's going on around them . They don't seem to stay put and hide away like other birds. The dog hardly has a chance to point before the bird takes off from many yards away. This makes a ...

This Tractive looks very nice and affordable! Is it that rugged compared to a Garmin or Sport Dog? I'm surprised their GPS e-collars are so expensive compared to the Tractive models.
