Why would you leave a rattle snake alive in an area you hunt or run your dogs. As stated most dogs are hit while running by the snake. I kill them when I come across them.

A good rule of thumb is if you can get more than one finger between the dogs neck and collar it may be to loose. Keep going and you will get it correct for your individual.

Once a young dog shows a good prey drive and the strong desire to chase It is time to steady or take away the chase. This is just my opinion and it has worked for me on countless dogs.

I have had three dogs bred like the top side of this pedigree. Two of the three had AA run and were real bird finders. It would appear that a pup from this litter could be a big runner. I have no cure. I have a few simple rules for people that hunt with me that may help your dog.1 No birds are shot that are not pointed. 2 no more than two people shooting at once and for your dog one is better. I rarely hunt with more than one person. So that brings us to number 3, if you hunt with ...

A bigger running dog is fine on smaller areas if and that is IF he minds. A bigger running dog does not run past birds at 50 yards just to get to 300 to start hunting. A dog that is steady to wing and shot is way beyond a started dog and most dogs never get to this point in training. This is a dog that is what you see is what you get. It all boils down to what a dog of this caliber is worth to you.

The dog you describe is way beyond started. He sounds like he is ready to hunt. This would give you ample time to find a...

I'm not sure carding a quail would work well because pen raised quail are usually weak flyers anyway. A quail in a launcher would likely serve the same purpose. As far as carded pigeons not being a proven positive approach to training or inhumane is horse manure. PETA would be proud of statements li...

Perhaps back to the check cord and steady the dog. It sounds like he has chased plenty of birds and bumped more than enough. You might try carded pigeons or chukar and get him pointing reliably and start taking the chase out. You may be on the way to having a great flusher and not much of a pointer....
