I have been reading the book listed below in the Google book section. "The Complete English Wing Shot" By George Teasdale Teasdale-Buckell Published in 1907 In the section about English Setters he relates that out-cross to the pure bred Llewellins produces some great field dogs. While the Llewellin ...

"KS" or "Kurzhaar Sieger" which means "Kurzhaar Champion". This title is gained at the Kleeman test, held every other year and only in Germany. The Kleeman combines both a Zuchtschau and a field test. What makes the KS title so difficult to obtain is that it in order to qualify to participate in the...

Re: 3/4 blue tick, 1/4 walker hound puppy
My walkers were very well behaved in the house even though they were kennel dogs except for the coldest days in North Dakota. Only glick was they discovered the nut bowl and would leave the shells all over the house if we forgot to put them up. No problem with drooling. Speaking of N. D. they have t...

Re: Gun Shy problem
I worked at the gun range and saw many stupid attempts at getting dogs use too guns. Tie it to the bumper 30 feet away, take it out on the shooting pad, or tying it to the post next to the pad. None that used my way ever ruined a dog. Keeping the pup a long ways away while giving it treats or showin...

Re: Gun Shy problem
I use to run hounds and am on my second bird dog. The absolute easiest way I ever got a dog use to gun fire was at our sporting clays range. I took my Llewellin pup up to the club one day and we settled down on the porch for some treats and to meet people. The club house was about 60 yards away and ...

Off the subject but a friend of mine had a setter growing up that was a good bird dog. He got loose one night when they were coon hunting and they found him treeing with the hounds. He said that after a couple times of him getting loose to go to the hounds they gave up. He became a good night hunter...

You can also force your employees to wear the transmitter collar so you know if they are working when you otherwise can't see them (it shows them on point when they are "slacking").

That is not a problem with the breeder. I may get one anytime I wish. I just want to do what is best for my pup that he may experience what he was breed for as long as he can.

I know there are vets that post here and I have a question for them. I have been told that the vaccine has not been proven to be of real value. That you still have to get the antivenom if bitten.
Have any vets seen that it is benificial to get the vaccine?

I am not a breeder so will only coment on the dogs not being classified for hips. Why take a bigger chance of getting bad hips? I would not purchase from a breeder that did not get one or the other done on both adults.

I had my first dog done when neutered. He had well developed bone structure thus it was a amputation. If I had it to do over I would not of put him through the extra pain. Now if the bone is not formed I would have it done.
