I told my wife about this...a Gunner pup going after a porky and she said "Well, imagine that!".

Gunner was not perfect but he had NO FEAR indelibly imprinted in his DNA and it seems to be passed on to his pups.

i wouldn't have a problem with a Trialing forum except that almost 10 years experience moderating here makes me think that it would be a real bear to keep on track. Then, Hunt Tests, NAVHDA, NSTRA, et al, would each logically go to their own forums...nothing good from that, I think. Please put Event...

Exactly. I have my second dog from Rick and Brenda. There are not better folks anywhere. I'm trying like the devil to "steal" my third dog from them. Don't know if I can get Donna to go for it.

Brandi is tremendous looking. Might be another great Fritz female to breed to Dez.

Doc, are they going by some official dictionary for words? If not, just tell them that they're words, not acronyms or initials.

One of the strengths of the GSP is the wide and deep gene pool and the different kinds of dogs out there. Look for a breeder that has a great reputation, is easy to talk to and easy to get along with. Look for dogs that are proven in the venue that you want to pursue. I have my biases as others have...

There is no "best GSP". What is best for one person is not best for the next. As I often say here, "there are 31 flavors of ice cream at Baskin Robbins for a reason".

Another angle: I didn't choose a dog, I chose a breeder/trainer. It's been a gift that has kept on giving.

Chris and I train and hunt together. His dog Ryland, the UT1 dog, is, all around, as good a dog as I've hunted behind of any breed.

I originally started this thread to raise awareness of the issue. I hope that it was successful.

I will stir the pot further:

My own personal ethics are such that no matter how terrific the dog, I would neither breed nor buy a dog with a known recessive gene for a fatal disease like LD.

Blue is a DQ in the show ring.

Is it associated with an outcross to another breed?

Registration really doesn't mean anything if you're not playing the dog games, are breeding or happen to be interested in genealogy.

The only thing to do is to stay home on those days. The broader public, close quarters and firearms go together like gas fumes and fire.

Bottom line is, I think you have to read the history of these breeds, then see what the European conformation standards are, then see if the American conformation standards are different or what. I suppose is you go back far enough, most dogs are just mutts, much like humans.... Everyone posting on...

This is my basic chili receipe. Super easy. It's a great starting point for your own variation. 5 lbs of ground whatever. Ground chuck, ground venison, etc. 5 cans of beans. Mix Bush's chili beans and kidney beans to taste. Start at 3/2 5 cans of diced tomatoes. Mix chili receipe and plain to taste....

In my rather painful experience, when one is 100% dancing to the others' tune, sooner or later, they get tired of it. I know I did...and went to lengths to change things.
