Comparing the dogs or the organizations? The dogs are all pointing dogs for both organizations but NAVHDA and NSTRA are completely different and each have dogs of different levels of talent and ability.

Belly band is to speed up the whoa training on a dog so there’s no confusion. Stim on the belly always means whoa, Stim on the neck means avoidance (trash breaking or running back to you) and handling. With the method the breaking process tends to go a lot smoother and faster.

My gwp will track and tree coons if we're hunting in a fur area with no birds. Its annoying put one up a tree last month and I had to walk 800yards to go release him. But if thats something you want could be nice. I'd say go with the gwp.

You wont be disappointed. Idaho has sharptails, sage grouse, huns, chukar, pheasant, and 3 different species of forest grouse. You are in great bird country. You can also pop over to Montana and chase birds up there as well. I wouldn't waste time with Washington.

Sounds like you have the right idea with your pup. Go for it, you can use the time out there to scout covers for the future. Work on your basics in the yard and let it chase wild birds. It's a baby, nothing wrong with letting it bump wild birds and learn. Puppies don't win the National.
