Maybe you should consider keeping and taking the dog with you, there is probably some good hunting in southern.... just kidding. I get it. Obviously the dog is worth what you're able to get for him, and that has to be consdering the fact that you're limiting his sale to a good family dog buyer who h...

I posted this question in the wrong place before..... anyone going to this this weekend?
I'm going to try to go watch for at least a few hours at some point over the weekend, would like to meet up with anyone else from here that may be there. Let me know.

I bought a pair of Dan's Briar Fighter Bibs ($115.00) from The Briarproof Superstore last season. I bought them big so I could layer underneath if needed. They are tough, well made digs. Re: Anyone evaluate dogs in rescue programs for hunting ability?
I've never heard of bird dog wars. What format does the guy run in? Must be very informal because only papered dog's can compete in trials. Bird Dog Wars is a show based on the Bird Dog Challenge organization. I would say the organization and the show are accurately and negatively described below. ...

First things first... If your dog is charging in after the planted bird...it may not ready for prime time, IMO. Before my dogs see a planted bird they are pretty rock solid in the yard. My dog is zero steady in the yard. I intentionally haven't taught whoa, bc there seems to be mixed feelings on it...

Re: dizzying quail for 9 month Brit
I think your cc is way too long. 15 feet of really stiff rope works great...you have good control, the dog can move somewhat freely, and the cc won't snag or wrap around the dog's legs. I let my pups drag the cc. Depends on how you plant your birds. If you dizzy the snot out of them, then bury them...

So here's where I'm at.... Rosco is 9 months old. I've intro'd him to birds only by letting him play with a chukar dangling in front of him, letting him play with a freshly dead grouse for a bit, and dangling a quail for him and eventually throwing it to fly away and let him chase. I tried four chuk...

Never. I always want a GREAT dog, not marginal or mediocre. You would have to be amazingly lucky to come up with a great dog in a rescue program. Life is too short to put up with them. One of the guys on Bird Dog Wars ONLY uses rescue dogs, and he has multiple champions. I don't believe (going from...

Yes the issue is the crack of the rifle. Age to introduce the gun has no month ; has to due with the dog's eagerness/ excitement about birds. You want the bird to be what makes the sound acceptable. You could have a 7 month old who still isn't too excited about birds , so no gun intro. " hadn't int...
