Live Birds in NY?
It looks like if I were to apply for a Domestic Game Bird license in NY. I could possess pheasant and quail for dog training in the state. Does anyone here in NY have this license? Is it worth going through the effort to get this or am I better off using pigeons?

Re: Wife wants to ship dog outside
I live in the country and have had a few dogs in my life. I've NEVER had a flea or tick problem and myself and my dogs spend a lot of time outside.
Your wife is going to encounter dirt from the dog just as she is going to from your kids when they go outside. Cleaning is part of life, problem solved.

Why not just mix up some concrete and level it?
Bumpers
I'm picking my pup up next month and want to use him for NAVHDA or NSTRA, maybe both. Anyways, this is my first gun dog and I'm getting the stuff for him now for working with him this summer. How many bumpers do I need on hand for training, etc.?

I've found a GSP pup that I will be picking up at the end of next month. This is my first GSP and the first dog I'll use for upland game and hopefully some NSTRA competitions. I've searched the forum here but I'm overwhelmed with the information! Where do I start in training my pup for upland game a...

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately there are no local breeders of GSPs so I'm going to have to make a trip to pick up a dog. I guess checking for title is a good place to start to filter out certain dogs/breeders?

I'm looking to get my first GSP to use in the field and as a companion at home. What should I be looking for in the pup's pedigree that would show a history of skills in the field/competitions?

The 1187 is a solid gun, the new Versamax is a better gun though.

Hello!
I'm not much on introductions but I shoot trap and sporting clays competitively and have been thinking about getting a gun dog for the past year. I've finally decided that I'm going to go ahead with the idea and I figured I would join here.
