All my blinds have a loop to tether the dog, and a carry a stake out when in the field. I am not a fan of nagging a young dog with the e-collar. He will learn.

Anyone with any experience with performance dogs would never use retrievers as an example.

And for those that believe the Iditorid is the extreme test, I counter with there a reason that pointers are not allowed entry and the top contenders often travel South to learn about optimum conditioning.

Most of my show success has been in specialties that tend to be more accepting of field dogs, but I have respect for those of you competing in shows. There is a lot more involved than most hunters understand.

My son travels international and tells me nearly all 3rd world countries have much better cell and internet accessibility. So unless you are going to run dogs in Cambodia, you need to look to Garmin/SportDog, and soon Marshall.

Please do not forget most of the money spent on canine nutrition reseach comes from Purina, and they are by far the leading sponsor of field trials. Iams was doing some, but they capitulated the performance, pointing dog market. I know most of the pros that run at Ames reward the Purina contribution...
