Other... I believe that proper socialization and introduction to birds as a puppy are the two events which produce a good bird-dog. Beyond that it is all about personalizing the dog to your own tastes.

I'm going to go against the grain and say that I think a trailer is much handier for hunting than a 6 dog box in a truck or a dog topper. I used to take mine all the time. Wife too, sometimes. They would swim out back while I fished out front. We all enjoyed the heck out of it. Here's a tip. Get one of those doggy life jackets with a handle. Makes draggin them out of the water a lot easier. The wife has to find her own way back in... :D

I'm going to guess it is related to the standard sheet sizes of the material they buy as raw stock. Most trailer manufacturers are probably set up to be more effecient as an assembly line and working to standard sizes reduces the number of required cuts and also minimizes wasted scrap.
