There is nothing wrong with getting a started dog. IMO there is nothing wrong with having a dog that can live with you in the house and hunt their butt off for you in the field. I'm in Ft Worth actually. And yes I had planned on stopping somewhere else, other than a rest stop or gas station to let him out to do his thing. And the vet is a long time family friend. I'm sure the chip wont be too expensive.
