If you found a protector that works with cutting out the section that rubs, I would stick with that and take the vest to seamstress and have him/her hem up the area that you cut out. That would alleviate further tearing.

One other thing I always take are baby wipes or anti-bacterial wipes. Makes clean-up quick after cleaning game when a water supply isn't available.

They may work just as well but I notice that they don't have the hard plastic head and feet that the Dokken does. Supposedly this promotes proper carrying technique. So if you buy into that you may want to go with the Dokken, if not the armadillo dummies may be what you're looking for.

A few factors to consider: Did you buy the O/U to use or to look at? If you bought it to look at then stick with it and be comfortable with the $ that you have into it as a piece of art. If you want to shoot and you don't want to go away from what works for you then sell it and buy yourself a couple...

I use 5s, but thats just because the heaverloads dont make a difference with hitting percentages with me! :lol: Last season I made a shot on pheasent with eights at 70 yards and killed it! Not to over simplify things but aren't we ignoring the fact that there is an unwanted behavior that needs to be corrected? I believe that working with the dog having somebody put some papers through the slot while you are there and then correcting any move towards or targeting of that action is key....

I had a guy bring me a young Britt he said wouldn't retrieve. Then I got the rest of the story. As a pup it was sent after a cripple pheasant. That cripple taught the pup to leave all dead birds alone! Just beat the tar out of that pup. Had the same thing happen to a Golden Retriever of mine years ...
