Re: Lab's chest protector
If you found a protector that works with cutting out the section that rubs, I would stick with that and take the vest to seamstress and have him/her hem up the area that you cut out. That would alleviate further tearing.

Re: puppy doesn't point wing on a string
How many times do you plan on going hunting for wings on strings...................? I wouldn't worry about it, like others have said, get some live birds and keep it fun!

I’ve been observing this thread for the past few days and have to say this may be one of the most beneficial threads (to me) that I’ve seen here at GDF. I for one welcome the differing view points, the arguments, bickering, and even the occasional mud slinging…….. I guess it’s time for me to throw i...

I would also suggest making her interact with your wife and son as much as possible so that they are also seen as alphas in your family.

One other thing I always take are baby wipes or anti-bacterial wipes. Makes clean-up quick after cleaning game when a water supply isn't available.

Re: Armadillo Foam Dummies
They may work just as well but I notice that they don't have the hard plastic head and feet that the Dokken does. Supposedly this promotes proper carrying technique. So if you buy into that you may want to go with the Dokken, if not the armadillo dummies may be what you're looking for.

Re: Tender Feet
Thanks Ezzy. I run him next to the bike 3 times a week about 3.5 miles each time. This is done on a mix of concrete and gravel paths. The road that he was on was an extremely coarse black top road and he was taken about 10 miles. This is the first time I've ever had this happen to him whether it was...

Hi All, For the first time ever my 7 yr old Weim has peeled his pads. Long story short, a friends wife took him running significantly farther than she had indicated and now I have a miserable pup with peeling on all 4 pads. Outside of keeping them clean and limiting activity would anybody suggest th...

Re: Would I be crazy to sell an O/U and shoot an 870??
A few factors to consider: Did you buy the O/U to use or to look at? If you bought it to look at then stick with it and be comfortable with the $ that you have into it as a piece of art. If you want to shoot and you don't want to go away from what works for you then sell it and buy yourself a couple...

3 years ago I had been laid off from so I had extra time to work with my weim. On one of our MANY walks during that time, he hit on a brush pile along the river and locked up on point. This walk is along a ridge about 40-50 ft. above the river. We had flushed woodcock, turkey, and an occassional squ...

Not to over simplify things but aren't we ignoring the fact that there is an unwanted behavior that needs to be corrected? I believe that working with the dog having somebody put some papers through the slot while you are there and then correcting any move towards or targeting of that action is key....

Re: Lab will not retrieve Pheasants
I had a guy bring me a young Britt he said wouldn't retrieve. Then I got the rest of the story. As a pup it was sent after a cripple pheasant. That cripple taught the pup to leave all dead birds alone! Just beat the tar out of that pup. Had the same thing happen to a Golden Retriever of mine years ...
