In the German trials, they have to track a rabbit instead of a bird. It seems that most of these versatile breeds just pick it up naturally. Mine points rabbits, but I don't let her chase them. Same with deer. She'll point a deer.

They give you the same constriction options, you just don't have to use a tool to get them in and out. Faster to change. Nearly all of your shots will be close so I'd run skeet and imp cyl. of cyl and imp cyl.

Yup, the hilti loads the home centers sell. I shoot mine out of a 22 pistol so I don't have to own a blank also. That way I have a ratshot pistol for varmints and a blank for the dogs.

I'd go along and take him but hunt the dogs separately. You don't want him busting the other dogs birds or if the other dog doesn't honor, him stealing your pup's birds.

but on the way BACK she takes her sweet time, sometimes even stopping to pee (which really burns me up b/c I know she doesn't have to go that bad)...her taking her sweet time happens about 50% of the time on the way back to me.
