You also may look for a lab rescue in the area. They will normally help find a good home.

If the dog will handle, take it hunting. Have fun and enjoy. The mistakes you both make will be lessons learned as long as neither of you get physically hurt.

NC Supreme Court returns gun owners rights.

The NC Supreme Court returned the gun rights to a fellow bird hunter Friday in a ruling that a 2004 law was unconstitutional and it punished him for the same crime twice over 20 years after the initial sentence. He was convicted of a felony drug offense as a young man in 1979. He served four months ...

The main reason about the open field is safety for the dogs, handlers and judges. Also, the dogs must be steady to flush (wing) but not to the shot.

Wheeless carriage opinions?

I was wondering about the opinions on the wheeless carriages versus a trailer. The one manufactured by creative sports supply has the taillights installed and a fan system. Seems like a good alternative to a trailer but I have heard some say that the dust and debris from the road are bad on the dogs...

Re: Have you ever been taken advantage of when buying a pup?

With a pup the age you are talking about there is no way of telling anything particularly good or bad other than physical build, sight and hearing. When buying a pup it is a roll of the dice. I would not be afraid of the pup if the breeder is in fact established. Most of the "bad deals" occur on old...

It will vary depending on her state of mind. Stop for a week and then start at the beginning. If she shows excitement, move ahead to your next step. If not, take small steps every other or third day for a week or so. You will be able to read the dog. I have "Put them up" for a month to break up the ...

As to the debate of age, I will leave that to the more experienced. But I would not worry about the other dog finding birds after your dog came out of the field. There are a lot of reasons for that. I wish my dogs would clean a field every time they went in. My only advice is be patient and keep ses...

Just a thought, if she is turning 1 yr. she may be about to come in season and sometimes that will cause changes in mindset.

One method would be to feed him and have someone shoot a cap gun at the beginning of the meal at a very LONG distance one time each day until he shows no sign of distress and then move slightly closer to get him to associate the shot with a good thing being food. There may be other, better methods f...
