Nice Pic
Was working my dog along with my pup and caught this pic of Delta on point with the 13 week old Mae coming in and backing after she caught a whiff of pigeon. The sun kind of gave it a cool effect.

Re: Deer rifle
The Marlin xl / xs 7 is as good as it gets for a starter gun. a 270 works for a youngster and ammo is readily available. I like the 7mm-08 best as a starter deer rifle. The new marlins have a great trigger similar to Savage's accu-trigger. Expect 1.5 inch groups or better. Good choice.

I have a Franchi 48al ultralight. I love it. Bought it when I was 19. Twenty years ago. I just keep going back to it.

Re: Flea and Tick preventative
We are using Vectra 3d and it has proven totally effective so far. I didn't believe the mosquito repellant but haven't seen a mosquito on the dog while I'm getting eaten alive........I wonder if people can take this stuff???????? LOL

I have bird hunted for years and trained dogs by trial and error. Please recommend a training manual. Smith, Wehle, Gun Dog? What do you all think. Many thanks....
