I trapped them for a living. It is just a myth that they "lure" a bigger animal into water .... Brave woman but Coons don't "lure" things into water to kill them, its their last chance of survival, they basically have their backs against the wall and are in flight or fight mode. No different then having a back to your wall. Myths continue though.

My problem is one of equipment, access to birds, and a place to shoot over him One month wont change any of that with most V's. I have owned and trained many Vizsla's over the years and they are VERY adaptive to their environment. Don't mistake the term "Velcro dog" as a sign of weakness. Heck, they were bred in Hungary and survived 2 world wars. :D They are biddable, loyal and affectionate but will thrive in many situations...

IMO, very few Dogs are ready to even consider "breaking" at 11 months. Continue working with the Dog and it will tell you when its ready... Forget if the Dog caught any birds! Let the Dog mature first.

I agree with feeding less if you are doing everything you can do to exercise the dog. It doesn't take much to simply keep the dog active. "Mind" exercises can work a lot of calories off of a dog with very little effort from the owner.

I would talk to Charley Rose at Wildrose GSP's who uses some of the most top producing Field Champions in Texas. (US). My GSP is out of similar lines and works well with my Vizsla's but I think your better off sticking with the same breed. What is your GSP's breeding?
