As long as you're not roading the pup (it shouldn't be pulling anything), a free run for 45 mins to an hour each day isn't bad. Just watch it on the cement/concrete/asphalt. A run in an open field is much better, and allows the dog to explore and use its sniffer.

I'll throw another vote in for the Dogtra launchers. They're quiet. It's easy to set the spring tension (low flush vs. high flush). And they're reliable.

I also think that they make a QL version for quail and pigeons, and also a PL version for pheasants. (larger)

Maybe, but you can't argue with results.

I like how it's a part of every solution that the dog gets proper exercise. People seem to be amazed how well a properly exercised dog behaves as compared to a dog who doesn't get to do anything.

Agree with JimB and Knine here. Dogs are pack animals. Irregardless of any new study that shows dogs can feel the emotion of jealousy, you have to establish yourself as alpha in the pack. On the kennel command, I do the same. They go inside the kennel, they get a quick treat. It can be as simple as a milkbone. They'll do it quicker next time. After awhile you won't have to use the treats anymore, the command will just be ingrained.

I generally keep an IC and a Mod in my O/U. IC is the first shot, Mod is the trailing shot. I don't really worry about chokes that much.

Are you in an area where people burn leaves? What about all the dust from harvesting the fields? That's two likely candidates right there.
