Rick redid some of his gravel lots last year and enclosed them with railroad ties. Keeps rock in and keeps diggers from digging. He has a 1 1/2 in rock in them. They turned out real nice and are low maintance. Then when you set your panels (ours are 6 ft) on the ties it makes them like 8 in taller. ...

I agree with Justin here Grant. Don`t worry about it, let `em grow up some more. Definatly don`t push it or put any pressure on it, keep it happy. Be VERY glad they like feathers, you don`t know how many I see that don`t.

We have alot of the Dog Dens. Some on the inside of runs, my other half, Rick has his on the outside with the door only coming inside. This is MUCH better for the life of the house. I have dogs jumping up and standing on the top, which I found out the hard way, rusts it out quickly. I also foud out ...

It is very typical for bitches to have false pregnancys. If you were cautious about keeping her separate i would not worry about it.

Helen, i was never a big hunter either. I have only shot birds to complete my dog work. When i met my current mate i was exposed to wild bird hunting, we make 2 or 3 trips a yr to hunt them. All I had done was train my dogs for trials and compete. Now we hunt either wild quail in Tx or Sharptail in ...

Rick Hopkins, my training partner used to conduct snake breaking seminars in Az. Would put one on here if someone got him a Rattlesnake. The only one we saw last year i blasted before he got there. If someone had one we could get a place around the Atl. area to put it on. So be on the look out for a...

Some dogs do fine working on pigeons thruout, but we like to use them only for the initial steadying process. Once a dog is understanding completly what you want, we immediatly switch them from pigeons to quail and keep them there. Quail on most dogs will keep a higher level of intensity than pigeon...

Grant, get a pooper scooper and pickup poop and put it in all the places they start on. It won`t stop the new places but it seems to discourage the behavior.

I have never used anything too elaborate for teaching Whoa. A 6 ft leash and a nylon collar around their rear section is all. It`s pretty simple. The rear contact point serves a purpose for using the e-collar later on the rear.

Yes, living in separte pens. (ESP. if she is now in heat.) There is no way of knowing when each female ovulats, so anytime can be a ad time. But for a dominance issue they are MUCH better off living separate. Dogs grow up much more confident if one isn`t getting beat down constantly.

Grant, let me give a little advice here. If you are keeping these guys together, the best thing you could do for them is separate them and let them live alone. I see lots of dogs raised together and one will always be much more confident and ultimatly be the better dog. In ways you aren`t aware of p...
