Re: Wanting to sit on the whoa command
If the dog sits on a Whoa command I just step them one step forward which makes them stand. I do not worry alot about it unless it manifests in the field.

Re: Akc Hunting tests
I would have preferred if they wanted to increase revenue's for AKC that they had just made it 2xMH, 3XMH, ect instead of making it a scores.thing. IMO, that is not what a "hunt test" is all about origionally. That is why it is not a competition. It is the evaluation of a dog that u would like to hu...

I have no desire to name an entire litter, but do ask people to use my name in front of what they want to use as their name. I figure after breeding for 30 years I deserve that. Never had any issue with anyone not complying.

I have never been to a Walking Trial that the walking gallery walks in front..Matter of fact they are usually eating the dust from the riding gallery, which I think is very rude. I think walkers should be before the riders....

Re: Bias against walking handled dogs
I feel your pain here..That said, that is why I will not walk at a horse back trial...I feel like I am at a handler disadvantage, esp with a dog that is capable of competing in either trial, as your dog is. So, I either ride or stay home..I know it is suppossed to be the same for walking as riding, ...

I am torn here. I have had generations of GSP's now and get more requests for my frozen semen on my old guy thats been gone for yrs than my dog now that has more titles and loaded with talent than ever before...Kinda confusing to me.

The least fun I have had is running a puppy stake with no birds. The most fun I have had is running a puppy stake with birds. That said I fully understand not too many birds for pups..... But it was fun giving the pups the oppurtunity to show their God given talent.

Like previous posters, numbers do not tell u what they offer...I like to see the dogs that are bred upon offering what I want to see or need. Pedigree breeders lose out on the traits and just look at paper. I look at dogs.

Sometimes I just take these pups and hold them til they relax. They might fight for a bit but start to accept the attn when they know you will not turn loose til u decide the time is right. It is almost force praise.

So you want no pressure at 5 1/2 weeks but are starting formal ff in 2 weeks? 6 mo is still a puppy and ff requires pain and pressure...I do not consider ff on anything under a year old if it is a pointing breed.
