Sometimes getting shots at gambels is easier without a dog, but it is much harder recovering shot birds without one.. If you have a dog, bring it.

With alkaline batteries in the 320 the low battery warning goes off at about 40% battery life. Your on point alerts and backlight also shut off. I highly recommend you use rechargeable batteries

The Mothers vest has attachment points on the shoulder straps. I use the supplied belt clip to attach it high on my non shooting shoulder under my ear. I have a carabiner on the strap below that. I put the lanyard in there to keep it from falling to the ground should the belt clip fail.

Got the BirdsEye loaded. It was really easy. Unfortunately, I was downloading it over wireless internet so it took a while. It looks like 200mb of data equals 93 square miles of satellite images. That varies with your detail selection though. I will test it Sat and Sun on and around our trial ground...

Have you ever done any updates to the collars? Make sure you have the latest software version. Going off the top of my head, I would guess that you are changing the setting for the alerts not the dog type. If you were in the menu for changing the dog type, it would say "Pointing Dog" not "On Point"....

When the Astro saves a dogs track, the file is the dogs name. In order to keep it from overwriting old tracks, you have to rename them. To do that Main Menu > Advanced > GPS Applications > Tracks 1. What you need to do is rename the older tracks. I use the date and am/pm or 1, 2, etc. I will leave it at that for now because I work third shift starting tonight and I need to take a nap so I can make it through the night. I will verify the steps on my astro and post instructions in the morning.

The hand held only holds 620 data points from the dogs track. It then begins to overwrite. You can get around this by saving the tracks and renaming them when you stop for breaks or in between hunting spots. So you would have multiple saved tracks for each hunt. I think the area that the dogs that don't get Pr 1 112 have the most trouble with is the tracking of the pheasant. That would be the area I would spend some time on.

Look for a pointing dog club in your area and join it. That will help with finding access to training grounds, birds, training equipment, and experienced trainers.
