AKC/AF/AFTCA Standards
This is a question I have been contemplating for a while. When competing in AKC or AF - it seems the standards are identical in some ways (broke dogs) but wholly different in others. What I have found is the huge difference in race for AKC Gun Dogs and AF Shooting Dogs as well as AKC All Age and AF ...

Re: Hello , an intro and a question about King Llwellin Setters
My observations and experience has been much different than some of the posters. I find llewellins easily trainable, hard going to laid back in disposition. They are not that difficult to break steady to wing and shot and are as good as many dogs here in TX for quail. Phoenix - glad you found someth...

Generally speaking - I carry a saddle gun - either a short .410 in a scabard or a .22 with rat shot in a holser attached to my horses breast collar - I carry my tracker or garmin on the front left side attached to a ring on my saddle - 2 gallons of water on each side of the rear of the saddle - and ...

If what you say is true - then the FDSB irish setter is doomed too - there are as many members in the NLGDC as there are in the NRSFTC - and based upon different websites for both breeds/strains - as many breeders. When is the last time any serious trialler bred to a show dog in any setter breed. So...

Re: FDSB pulling Hank and Dash registration ?
What makes a llewellin a llewellin - is the same thing that makes a GSP a GSP - bloodline. The FDSB when it recognized the llewellins in 1902 - determined what was a llewellin setter. The breeders then took this and bred llewellin setter to llewellin setter down through the years to present day - ju...

That is not correct - All champion dogs MUST be DNA'd.
There are several different breeds that require DNA and other stuff to run in their futurities.

The problem was not with "Hank" it was with his sire "Irish King Bondhu Ashley" and dogs bred by Al King after "Hank" became so popular - with IKBA listed as the sire. Re: Need a little help - - Best remedy to solve false pointing?
Dog needs more experience - I had a dog a couple seasons ago that had that problem too - a summer on the prairie cleared it right up.
False pointing can be an indicator of an exceptional good nose - and while a blessing it can be a curse - often leads to many non-productives.

Brenda - How much Exceed Performance do you feed to each dog? I am having to feed my field trial dogs 8 cups a day to maintain weight and condition for them.
We work them pretty hard - roading them 50 min to an hour 3 times a week and running from horseback 1 to 2 times a week.
