Water dog
Hey Bill: Engelhardts Kennels in Mount Vernon, ME has great NAVHDA dogs. They love water and Duck Hunting. They are also great groused dogs. I have one of their dogs. Engelhardts have Mercy. She loves duck hunting and can out perform most retrievers. Engelhardts have a number of Versitile champions....

living?
Hi there: I am another Blue Collar guy. Have a small General Contracting Co. Build mostly Dunkin Donuts in the Northeast. They will be coming to a town near you. Also build Custom House when the opportunity arises. The dogs have become one of the best parts of my life. I also like this forum site. G...

Late Night?
Hey Justin: Looks like you have been thinking on this some being up so late. Cabellas and Lion country supply have roading harness's also if you go to some of the Sled dog sights they have some that are made to fit the individual dog. Roading a dog on a two wheeled bike sounds like a tricky deal. I ...

green machine
Hey Justin:
Is it green all the time or just on the forum?
I had a similar problem all the time. As it turned out I had a loose connection on the back of the cpu.
I don't know a darn thing about these blasted machines other than that.

Future Turkey dog
I have been putting some quail out for my French brit pup, Stella. She is 19 weeks old. She has a great nose. I haven't had to check cord her or coax her to the area of the birds she just finds them and points like a full grown champ. It is the look in her eyes that impresses me. Well we worked the ...

New Kennel
The best by far, in my opinion is Concrete. Use a 4000lp mix and seal it while it is green. It should be power troweled fairly smooth but not "burned" to a gloss. The 4000 pound mix is very dense and will resist chemicals and will not absorb as much moisture. It also holds up to weather better than ...

nutty idea
Hi there Silver: Here is a nut on the wall. How about building a Pressure treated suspended floor inside your existing kennel. If you have any welding skill use metal. Make it modular. You may have to put it on legs and use expanded metal for the floor. It would be expensive initially but you could ...

Not bad point
She is very staunch about a 1 or 2 clock tail head might be a little low for your game (looking at these photos). She quivers when on point. sometimes a leg up. I am kind of biased but she is a great dog. and her sire and dam are great also. I don't know if I have any photos of her on point. I don't...

trailer road
Chris, NV Gsp:
I was at a NSTRA Trial in VA this spring and a fella had a Aluminum unisulated trailer. ( Diamond Plate ). Not a top of the line but it went pretty good. Most of them have torsion bar axels.. I have that on my snowmoblile trailer. It makes for a pretty good ride.

An everything dog
How would you like a dog that can run all types of events? I am currently looking for a stud for my female. Engelhardts have Mercy. She is not known much. But she excells at everything we try. I am about to try some United field trial and American field trial. There isn't much to run around here. I ...

topper or dog box
One thing I would ask, is: How many dogs you Haulin? If you are hauling just a couple of dogs then It makes sense to by a Dog Box with a built in Drawer. These boxes like Sharmrock from Maine, Deer creek in the midwest, Ainley in the mid west, are fairly rugged and a lot safer in an accident than yo...

don't create a problem where one does not exist
I would agree with OhioGsp. When Rowdy brings back the dummy or toy, praise him while he is holding it. I would not praise him when he drops it. He will think that is a good thing and will get in the habit of doing that. He may drop birds in the field later. Just take the item with no emotion nor co...

ditto
This is all good advice. Just a note on the end result of those ideas. Each day I put my dogs in the kennel before I go to work. they run to it to get their loving and more importantly their treat. I don't use treats for any thing else. The kennel is their place it needs to be a good place. The dog ...

I will take it for this one.
Watch your dogs body language. The Pup will tell you alot. Is he confused? Does he get it? Is he going to break? Is he going to try to blow you off? Has he had enough? Short successfull training sessions make a confident dog. If you are hitting a wall, go back a few training sessions and do somethin...

Proffessionals?
Hi Margaret: Thanks, I thought that was it. It is just some folks hear the words electric collar and think the worse. If one has been abusive then they probally will remain that way. I understand. Although, I do know of one well known trianer that was reportedly rough and once he got hold of a colla...

On the road again
Hi there Brenda: To do the NSTRA trials: The closest is in Ontario which is 8 hours, The next is Va and then NC. I haven't gone completely insane yet but feel like I am headed that way. The American field trials here in Maine, NH and Rode Island, I just found out about. I don't know if my dogs could...

types of trials
What kind of trials are you all running. I would love to do more but it is limited up here in Maine. There are about 4 trials a year, up here where no birds are shot, so no retrieves. They are American field events. I think. I do run in NSTRA a couple time a month in the winter and have had some suc...

e-collars, guns
Margarett: I wonder what is behind your questions on the "Proffessionals". I have grown very attached to my Ruger 20 guage, so fast to mount and light to carry. I did need to have it fitted. Had some cast built in. It made a world of difference. (well spent $120.oo) The need for speed in the Ruff wo...
