I had a good experience with NW and bad experience with Delta. Probably the fact that it was a direct flight on NW was the main difference. Like K9 said it is an employee problem. My Delta deal someone left the in pup sitting in Cinci until the next flight out and then it was too late to catch the l...

When I was a kid in the 60's there were only a few feeds available. The majority of the people with hunting dogs fed Purina Dog Chow. Our setters hunted hard and lived a long time on the green bag. By todays standard that food is considered at the low end of the scale. About 10 yrs ago I got caught ...

Re: She is a Stan Z dog
I think that dog is Summer Wine, call name Rocky.Wa Chukar Hunter wrote:She will be bred to one of Jim Baker's young derbies that won an AF trial a couple weeks ago against some pretty nice setters and pointers - including kicking the tar out of 3 of my dogs that I am really liking.
Does anyone know who he is out of?

HA! I was going to say color, but thought it would not be funny. HC is exactly right. All hunting breeds have vast differences in lines. They will all have high energy levels, especially when they are young. Good luck in your search and have fun with the little one. [img][img]http://i2.photobucket.c...

[quote="DGFavor"] I think we've got another one coming up that might be pretty interesting - real similar appearing female in terms of size/shape/quickness but quite a different pedigree - she's got sort of a who's who of GSP's pedigree with Rusty, BE, Clown, Sonny, Slick. Hey Doug, Who's female did...

Mine's a girl, spayed. I've always figured I'd leave the breeding to guys that know what they are doing. I got her the year Dan was putting the addition on the kennel. He was busy trying to keep the help working. I had to figure out which one I was going to take home. I had them all out in the yard,...

This side of the state does not have a huntable popultaion of sharpies, there are some blue grouse in the forest if you like hunting them. The main pointing dog game is chukars and huns. There are also quail but they are harder to hunt with a pointing dog unless you catch them out in the sage away f...

I've been accused of a lot of things before, but never of being a knowledgeable bird dog person. I've actually owned beagles, setters, shorthairs, redbones, walkers, and plotts. You have to realize in general us folks from Idaho aint very learned. So you say it is a GORDON, so it must be a flusher t...

First off let me state I am not a breeder, doctor, or nutrition expert. I am just an old hunter. About 45 yrs ago I remember feeding my dads beagles and setters. All he ever fed was purina dog chow. The dogs would hunt all day and barring accidents they lived into their teens. About 10 years ago wit...

We put a piece of jalapeno in there before we wrap it up. If you like a little zest, all game birds are good like this. Hey Doug, I thought I was the only one that whiffed on those points that take a long time to get to. Another simple method for the cullinary challenged. Cut breast into thin strips...

In the early 60's I remember as a kid always having to feed the dogs, beagles and setters. It was always the same green bag, (purina dog chow). Dog's would always hunt daylight to dark and if you did not get the beagles rounded up by dark they would run all night. I don't know if it was the same for...

It has rained a lot. I'm going out in the morning. They are calling for more moisture tomorrow night. The roads were fuzzy at best when I went Sunday. Some of the slopes were awful mucky. We need it to freeze, it's 45 right now. Clearing on sat and sun, lows in the teens. Maybe it will seize up enou...

No It has a layer of cordura between you and the birds. I have never had it bleed thru. Although the majority of the birds I get die from laughter as opposed to impact from pellets. You can start now for sure, but, it is not a force pressure kind of thing. You can walk with the dog and stop and say whoa. Keep repeating and pretty soon you will be able to say whoa while you are walking and the dog will stop in its own. You can hold the dog back before he dives into his food and ...

You ask when to expose her to the bird chasing thing. I would not be waiting, I usually start before that. Dogs mature fast, she is at the stage of her life where she learns very fast. She needs to be out running the hills with you right now. She will learn alot and so will you. Just turn her loose ...

I'm like Doug I mainly just hunt mine. Some are hyper some are not, no amount of training will change that. Yours is reall...

I have hunted with bird dogs for over 30 years. I do not trial but enjoy watching a few. I do like to get my pups from those no account good for nothing run off trial breedings though, HA! I think the reason people get so fired up on trial threads is because trialing is a public competition and hunt...
